"No.
1 juke box in London" - TIME OUT Pub and Bar Guide 2003/4
"No.
1 juke box in the world" - GQ 2003 Travel Awards
It speaks for itself, the Boogaloo jukebox is the best in the world. As recently
acclaimed in JACK magazine, the jukebox hosts 100 albums, carefully selected
to cover all genres of music which must be at least 10 years old to prove
they withstood the test of time and are genuine classics. Each month,
a music industry-related personality will choose their favourite top-ten
albums of all times (at least 10 years old to abide by our house criteria).
These
records are then installed in the jukebox and, apart from being displayed
as the celebrity's choices, will be plated as background music in the
bar for that month Past, present, and upcoming personalities to choose
are the likes of David Soul, Tim Wheeler, Shane MacGowan, Spider Stacey,
Robert Plant, Sinead O'Connor, Howie B, Ray Davies, Nick Cave, Badly Drawn
Boy, Bobby Gillespie, Ronnie Wood, and Jackson Brown, many of whom occasionally
grace the establishment for a drink or two.
Basically,
our outlook is very American - we have brought back the concept of a Juke
Joint as fondly remembered in the rockin' Southern States and Wild West.
We lament the onslaught of style bars in the 1980s and 1990s when the
jukebox was discarded in most bars, and we are proud to herald its return,
bringing with it a glimpse into the golden age of music, and we're all
having fun along the way.
A
typical compilation of what our patrons might expect to find on our jukebox
is listed here and for index purposes is grouped in headings under the
artist's style of music. Enjoy.
